But first, an update on yesterday's post about food allergies...
my vet came down firmly on the maybe side of the entire situation. Which is where I am as well. She said that food allergies in dogs and cats are going through a tremendous increase, just as they are in humans, and that there is no indisputable evidence that it is genetic. In fact, it is more likely to be caused by the increase of chemicals, hormones and other additives in our environment and food sources. Even plants are manipulated from seed to harvest. She said if the problem were JUST genetic, it would be seen clearly in certain breeds or at least in separate lines within breeds, BUT food allergies occur in ALL breeds and crosses. As for breeding Maggie and Cisco to each other again, she suggested Mag be bred to a different male this time. Cisco already has a litter of purebred Poodle pups on the ground and almost grown with no known problems. Sometimes, for some unknown reasons, two specific individuals to not mix well although they are fine, even spectacular with others. As it says on my website, in the piece about what I've learned in a lifetime of breeding, what looks best on paper gives you the worse results. Or, in plain English, poop happens! So, until Penny has had time to digest (no pun intended... well, maybe a little pun intended) all the "information" and various opinions and decide what she wants to do, there will not be another Maggie litter.
And now, the pictures
This is the problem free Maggie/Cisco girl, Macy, enjoying her time at the beach.
Esther is moving to New York, near "the City," on August 8th. I hope this is not what she thinks of the idea!
And then, get a load of the feet on this guy, who is also moving to NYC in August.
Finally, this pretty face goes with the AVAILABLE girl, Cream and Gold Dog. More pictures of her and the other AVAILABLE female, Brown Pony, later in the week.

Aggravation!
First, on Saturday,Zenyatta lost by the bob of Blame's head. I know how bad I felt and can only imagine how her people are still feeling.
Second, Emy's little blond girl passed away last night. She gave it all she had and it just wasn't enough. Everyone else is trying to walk and some eyes are partly opening.
And third, I got an email from a friend this morning:
Color Test
A great test, do the test until you get 100%!
Bet you can't get 100% on the first try! But I'm rootin' for ya...This is
pretty neat! See how you do with the colors! Have fun!
It takes an average of 5 tries to get to 100%. Follow the directions! It's
harder than it seems, as it should be!
A brain waker-upper for today!

Last, I'm going to try getting photos tomorrow (or Wednesday,) whenever I can get my son to come over to help me. And THAT is real aggravation!

3 Weeks Old Group Pix

This is most likely the last time I'll be able to get them all together... and obviously they weren't all into having their sleep disturbed THIS time! The black/tan male has grown by leaps and bounds and is now in the middle of the pack while the black/tan female is just slightly bigger than he while one of the darkest is the same size. The 2 smallest guys are still the darkest and the 2 lightest guys are now the largest in the litter. Several of the pups have small amounts of white on their chests. ALL have their eyes and ears open and now notice me when I'm in the pen with them, touching or holding them. They are on their feet... still a little unsure but gaining confidence every hour! Looking for their mama, a couple have gotten out of the nest and promptly gotten lost when she's gone back IN the nest. Some time before their next week's birthday they'll discover the water bowl and then the big find... mama's food! They grow up so fast!
Just so you know... the black in the back row is the girl, her brother is in front. The 3 next to them are the darkest little guy with the 2 biggest pups in front and the 2 smallest boys are on the left.
Different shots... still conglomerations... are on the website and dbi.com

No News is Good News
Tomorrow the pups will be 7 weeks old. And today I took 5 of the males into town to meet a couple from Maryland who are getting one and were passing through this area on their vacation. This was the first time the pups have been outside... for all of you who are soon going to be trying to figure out how to get ONE puppy out every couple hours, you will soon understand that taking 11 out is no easy task (so I pretty much don't even try until they are big enough and tuned in to me enough to follow where I lead.)
Anyway, once the boys stop squinting in the light of day, they just lay where ever I put them in the puppy pen. (Check out the new pix on the website, if you haven't already... they were just like that!) They were very cuddly and I think gave the wrong impression about being superdooper laid back. When we got back home every one of them told their mom all about it... whining and crying to beat the band. Cotton spent about an hour cleaning the "human stranger" smells off each of them. But all is back to normal tonight. They ARE starting to pay me some mind, which I love!
Another couple taking a boy is getting married soon. The pup is their wedding present to each other. I took this photo for them so they can show it at their dinner and everyone will see what a great idea they've had. (And no, I'll never be able to tell which one was in the picture!)

This is a different boy that I took about a dozen shot of with these two being the best. I'm not big on props, but happened to remember the Valentine's heart after realizing these two pictures were just too bland for the wedding dinner presentation.
But, at least you can see his face, which you can't very well on most of the new photos on the website.
