Just One Pup Available

I am happy to report everyone in this litter is spoken for except one male. And there is the possibility one of the females may be available (I'll probably know for sure later this week.) I'm getting lots of inquiries via both email and phone, which is nice. Sometimes I wonder "is anyone out there" (like with the rescues!) but not with this litter. Also, my plans for the Fall F1 breeding of Brogue and Diamond AND my backcross breeding of Shadow and Emy has some interested followers. No, I'm not planning on starting a waiting list for either, but, as usual, will open a reservation list once a breeding is done and I'm sure there are pups on the way. That's worked out well for me since I started doing it a couple years ago, so I'm not going to fix what ain't broke!

For those of you waiting for Who-Doo info, I've got nothing. I did look at a Wheaten male who was 46 pounds, thinking he might be bigger (as in TALLER) than Brogue (who with his current full and heavy coat weighs in at 42 pounds.) But the other guy was just heftier, not taller. In fact, he could have been a tad shorter. IF Keogh (my Goldendoodle) comes into season AFTER Di and
Emy and one of them does NOT get bred, I may go with a surgical artificial insemination for her, but I don't want more than two litters at the same time. Gone are the days when lots and lots AND LOTS of puppies are still fun for me.

Nothing new and cute to report from Cotton's gang today. They ARE looking more and more like 6 week old pups... sort of like the difference between a 3 months old baby and a 6 months old baby... there is a certain amount of awareness now present. And they are gaining a sense of "self." All part of growing up!

I've had a number of people email me recently asking if I could put them in touch with folks in their local area so they could actually "meet" a Whoodle. Any of you who are willing to share with a stranger, please let me know. When someone asks, I'll send YOU their contact info and YOU can get in touch... or not... as you choose.

Columbine
Today is the 10 year anniversary of this tragedy. I must admit I have not had any on going curiosity about the situation. However, the owner of the forum where I spend a lot of time... the Brokeback Mountain forum... has written a book on Columbine. It is debuting on the New York Times Best Seller List
at number seven. Dave (Cullen) was supposed to be on Oprah this afternoon but the show was cancelled at the last minute because she felt the program was all about the killers. I was looking forward to putting an "action figure" to the forum poster I've known for more than 3 years. WHO-DOOS a "no go" again
Well, Debbie-doodle is staying in California so there won't be any Who-Doo pups this summer, at least not here. If the interest is still there when my Keogh comes back into season, I'll try a surgical artificial insemination with her and Brogue. That should be in October.

Lots of interest in Butler
After several weeks of nothing going on, my mailbox had a number of inquiries in it over the weekend AND my phone has been busy... THREE calls this afternoon! He is "on hold" for a fairly local family who is going to try to meet him this weekend. He is such a great guy, I'm really going to miss him. Unlike the 2 Poodle mix pups still here! Just joking, sort of. They are really sweet pups but I'd forgotten how much MORE work small breed pups are than medium to large breed pups. They are very active and agile and noisy! But they're smart too and not only know the rules BUT have become quite adept at reading my body language.... These guys are practically house broken and have had all their shots and would make really really good pets... hint, hint!

Spring grooming, Who-Doos

It looks like the worse of winter is over so I've started clipping everyone. Got Emy and Di done... next to Sparky, they're the smallest and the ones I do myself. I didn't clip them in November, except for the back of the ribcage to the tail, because they were both pregnant and I keep the house really cool. All that hair kept the pups nice and warm. All those pups got the hair nice and matted! But it comes off easy then, like shearing a sheep. They went running out into the rain and came in soaked to the skin which they seemed to enjoy. Tomorrow Brogue is going to the groomer. He's not matted except for under his ears and where he's chewed a little on his rear, but he has a really thick coat and when it starts to mat it does it all over in no time. Keo will probably go this week as well. Again, she's not matted but has a ton of hair. Both Sparky and Shadow are still fairly short from their early winter clipping... doesn't seem like the hair grew all that fast this year which is odd since this was the coldest winter we've had in a long time. I actually liked it a lot!

My second attempt at a Who-Doo litter has hit a snag. Trying to get this Goldendoodle girl here from California is proving to be a job. She can't fly because we don't have planes coming in here big enough for the crate and so far, neither her owner nor I have located ground transport we're comfortable with. I remember sending a group of dogs to Idaho via ground several years ago and I was definitely unhappy with the service. If we don't get it worked out before Debbie-Doodle comes into season, all bets are off. I even talked with my vet... again... about doing surgical a.i. with Keo and Brogue. They are all for it... but it's not THEIR money (until I spend it there!) I really hate disappointing the people who have been waiting so long for one of these puppies. AND I'd love to have more Keo pups... her one and only litter was wonderful.

Sounds like maybe the rain has let up a little... I should try letting some dogs out and maybe get them all settled down before Dancing with the Stars starts at 8.
