You Can't Get There from Here

Apparently, you can't get a dog into Toronto from anywhere in the south east USA. Kamika from Delta's Minneapolis center worked herself to death calling supervisors in various Delta hubs and checking with my local Delta station, trying to work details out but, in the end, the pup going to Canada is flying to Buffalo and being met there by her new family. Shipping to people in WESTERN Canada has not been a problem because I've just sent the pups to SEATAC in Seattle and they've picked them up there, but with all the flights into Toronta and good connections, it seemed it was going to be an easy job. HA! Live and learn.

Coccidia update
The pups who went to the vet today, after 3 doses of Albon, were clear of it. They'll stay on Albon for at least a week, just to be sure.

Puppy weights
The two pups from Di's litter weighed in today at 8.04 (male) and 9.06 (female.) Emy's boy was 11 pounds.

Pix of first pup to leave
This is Aubie, who moved to AL yesterday, with his new kids and Grandma's Havanese. Looks like everyone is happy!

I Give Up

I'm not a big believer in Global Warming, at least not in the sense that it means we've killed the world. (I believe it is part of the normal cycle on this planet and may or may not mean there are going to be significant changes over the next million or so years.) However, if it will help Al Gore, or whomever is in charge of temperatures in my neck of the woods, I will concede that the weather is hotter than ever before. Or, as my local forecasters keep saying, "since we started keeping track." "We," in this case, means some sort of official weather tracking entity. We have had 55 days of 90 or above since June 1st... not counting today or the rest of this week which is supposed to be at least that... and the previous record was 47 in one summer. The temp has been so much higher than normal this year, the OFFICIAL average temp has gone up by over one degree! DO you know what it takes to do that? Well, I do as I've lived through it. It was bad enough when our normal was supposed to be in the 80s. Now the norm is supposed to be in the 70s. I say ENOUGH ALREADY!

Of This and That

First, what is on everyone's mind: the girls... pregnant or not?
Can't tell yet.
They've been VERY lazy (but that could be the weather) and there have been a couple examples of testiness (but that could be the weather.)

Second, the waiting list: I'm kind of amazed at the response. Don't know whether that's a good thing or not. Guess I'll see how it shakes out in the next couple weeks.

Third, weights: Tucker (in IL) is right at 18 pounds. The range in that litter is incredible. And confounds my record keeping/size predicting capabilities.

Okay, here are the new weights for this gang...

Beckett (Molasses) ___ 9.75 ___(5.5)
Marco ___ 9.50 ___ (5)
Charlie (Eastwood) ___ 8.5 ___ (4.5)
Brother ___ 7.5 ___ (4.25)
Remy (Dora) ___ 7.5 ___ (4)
Lola (Lolly) ___ 7.25 ___ (3.35)
Spider ___ 6.75 ___ (2.75)

Really good decision
Moving the pups into the dog room was a wonderful decision on my part. They have SOOO much more room to play in there that they don't need to be out loose... and tearing up everything... in the house. And I don't have to go around hiding all the electrical cords several times a day. Plus, when they get up and start rumbling in the morning, I sleep through it... well, almost. And another plus, they can play out on the deck once the shade reaches it. Right now, they've been out of the pen for about 45 minutes and most of them are sleeping in the doorway or just outside on the deck. A couple are still moving about but the temp is around 95 (not factoring in the heat index) and they're pretty much done in. The last plus is they have finally discovered splashing-the-water-out-of-the-waterbowl-all-over-the-floor-
and-lying-down-in-it-to-cool-off and I don't have that wet puppy smell in the bedroom.

Emy is still pretending she never saw any of them before in her whole life.
