Tomorrow, October 1st, I am opening the reservation list for Diamond and Brogue's pups, due after 10/20/10. HOWEVER, since people on the waiting list were notify earlier this week, I am fairly certain the list will be filled immediately.
The Good News
is I am also fairly certain that BOTH Emy and Cotton are pregnant as well. They have bloomed in the last couple days which COULD be false pregnancies. But I doubt it. The reservation list for those two litters will open in the next two weeks... and, again, families on the waiting list will have advance notice.
And, no
I am not looking forward to January 2011... when I will have to do all the work of taking care of 3 litters. Until then, their moms... if they behave the way they usually do with pups... will bear most of the burden. I'm already planning to check into a resort an a balmy South Seas island for the whole month of February!

5 Months and Still Going Strong!
Emy and Sparky's youngest babies were 5 months old yesterday. Bad Grandmama (me) forgot to post a happy birthday message... guess I'm too busy following their older sister and niece around, trying to decide if they are pregnant or not!
Kelly says Murphy (used to be Brother) is 18.4 pounds as of yesterday.
Of This and That
Secretariat, the movie, starts in another week (special sneak preview this Saturday, in some places) and I'm looking forward to it. And then, the following week, Reds, starring Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren, among others, opens.
And then there is the new tv season. Nothing has really grabbed me yet. I wanted to watch Undercovers but it's on opposite Survivor and I've been hooked on that for YEARS. I have watched The Event and am really tired of that broken time line business. But will go back next week. Outlaw, on Fridays, has been good. I am going to take a gander at the new Wm Shatner comedy on Thursdays because I hear it's done by the Will and Grace people and I could use a good laugh at least once a week! And yet, so far, there is nothing outstanding this year.

Alert
Between my ISP and static on my phone line, I'm having a big (BIG) problem with the internet. So if you email and I don't get back to you right away, just hang in there. I'll respond as soon as I can. If it's an emergency, call me... voice mail works even when my phone is down and I can pick up messages on my cell.

I Give Up
I'm not a big believer in Global Warming, at least not in the sense that it means we've killed the world. (I believe it is part of the normal cycle on this planet and may or may not mean there are going to be significant changes over the next million or so years.) However, if it will help Al Gore, or whomever is in charge of temperatures in my neck of the woods, I will concede that the weather is hotter than ever before. Or, as my local forecasters keep saying, "since we started keeping track." "We," in this case, means some sort of official weather tracking entity. We have had 55 days of 90 or above since June 1st... not counting today or the rest of this week which is supposed to be at least that... and the previous record was 47 in one summer. The temp has been so much higher than normal this year, the OFFICIAL average temp has gone up by over one degree! DO you know what it takes to do that? Well, I do as I've lived through it. It was bad enough when our normal was supposed to be in the 80s. Now the norm is supposed to be in the 70s. I say ENOUGH ALREADY!
Of This and That
First, what is on everyone's mind: the girls... pregnant or not?
Can't tell yet.
They've been VERY lazy (but that could be the weather) and there have been a couple examples of testiness (but that could be the weather.)
Second, the waiting list: I'm kind of amazed at the response. Don't know whether that's a good thing or not. Guess I'll see how it shakes out in the next couple weeks.
Third, weights: Tucker (in IL) is right at 18 pounds. The range in that litter is incredible. And confounds my record keeping/size predicting capabilities.

In Case Anybody Cares
I finally got to get my weight! It's been 10 weeks since the last time I weighed in and I'm down to 313. That's 42 pounds lost in the last almost 16 weeks, 20 in the last 10. Ha! Another hundred and I might start feeling like I'm getting somewhere!
Speaking of weight
Lola in CO weighed in at 16.6 pounds today. That was AFTER her haircut!
